THE DAY I REALISE MY FRIEND IS MY AUNT

There’s a saying – A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED which I wholeheartedly subscribe to it. It was in my darkest hours not too long ago, among the few, this particular friend of mine who has lent me a helping hand will always be deeply appreciated and fondly remembered by me in my whole lifetime. Though we may not have known each other for ages to be KAKIs, rather it was through quality time we have had spent over a short span that a friendship bond has gradually blossomed. Some friends simply come & go, some are meant to be forever friends. Certainly, friendship is not measured by the depth of wealth one possesses or on the highest echelon of one’s social standing as next to kinship, true friendship on it own merit is a priceless treasure no amount of money in this universe can buy. What’s the point of having all the worldly possessions without any worthy friend to confide in; to rely on; to share one’s happiness & joy and more? Though of late we may not have communicated

Service With A Smile But I Had, Believe Me!

What type of service is perceived a good service? It is common knowledge to any gregarious service provider to embrace this service philosophy that ‘Customer is KING’, period. But in reality, some customers are never satisfied - no matter how hard we try but notwithstanding, they are still KING. Even SIA, consistently ranked among the best airlines in the world receives the same amount of compliments as opposed to complaints and like it or not, they will continue to face this stigma of sorts for as long as they are still in the aviation business. Unless proven utterly wrong by any wise Alec, they will still be ranked among the best in the world while complaints on them continue to gather pace. That was 1988, a DRAGON year and it was an exceptionally bumper harvest for Singapore’s hospitality industry, the airlines included too. Suffice to say, the foray of tourists, the world over visiting our bustling lion city was fast filling up the hotel rooms scattered all over our little land mas

Heard so much about blog from youngsters but for an IT idiot like me, it is one giant step forward to attempt my own blog. At least, I tried and it is up and running now. I name this blog, TOCK KONG (in hokkien, it means one of its kind only). Thinking age, wisdom and working experiences were just right for me to venture on my own then but alas, no one (not even GOD) could predict 9/11 followed by Iraqi War, SARS, bird flu, tsunami and the list will go on and on...! It was really bad timing for me when I setup a new travel company in Oct 2001 almost immediately after 9/11 (what chance do I have when planning was already ongoing before 9/11) and some months later, setup another company to handle sales and operations for an upstart regional carrier in Singapore. Infact from onset, things were going right for me and friends & business associates were looking up at me but when the outbreak of SARS hit us without warning, it was downhill on the way to the demise of my businesses.
